The sensor loop bridging the N348 of one nucleotide binding pocket to F360 of the counterclockwise adjacent pocket changes the conformation between the ATP(γS)- and ADP-bound states. In the ADP state, R349–I353 form a 3 10 helix, but in the ADP·Pi state, this transition is incomplete, making this loop the last structural element to convert after ATP hydrolysis (see the Ramachandran analysis in Extended Data Fig. 7).
