Two-cluster X-TEC results colour coded as red and blue, from the temperature trajectories of the diffuse scattering intensities of the intercalated sample with x = 2.9%. The asymmetric distribution of red and blue clusters surrounding the CDW satellite peaks is systematically present in the three intercalated samples, clearly revealing the signature of disorder pinning. The intensities of CDW peaks and H + L = odd Bragg peaks (white pixels, identified from a prior X-TEC analysis) are excluded from this two-cluster X-TEC, along with the H + L = even Bragg peaks removed by a square mask (square white regions). a.u., arb. units.
