Distribution of per-cell mtDNA copy number of all the diploid (n = 42,351) and tetraploid (n = 6,269) cells, colored by nuDNA ploidy. Two-sided, two-sample Wilcoxon test indicates that diploid cells have a significantly different mtDNA copy number compared to tetraploid cells (P < 10 -16). Boxplots represent the median, 25th percentile and 75th percentile, and whiskers correspond to 1.5 times the interquartile range. **** denotes P <= 0.0001.
