Disruption is experienced relationally when expectations of stability invested in a valued object are threatened with change. The values disrupted may derive from our personal experiences of or relationship to that object, the cultural resources such as discourse and social identities with which it is associated, or some combination of the two. The concept is derived from Boholm and Corvellecs relational theory of risk 15 .
