Example experiment. ATP (red shading) depolarizes PFL2 cells expressing P2X2 (top), evoking an increase in the absolute value of rotational velocity, that is, rotational speed (middle). It also evokes a decrease in forward velocity (bottom). This fly turns right in response to the first two pulses but left in response to the last two pulses.
