CPXV-BR, RPXV, CMLV, and an MPXV strain isolated from 2022 (MPXV_CVR_S1) degrade HDAC5 during infection. HFFFs or HEK293T cells were infected with RPXV at 5 plaque-forming units (PFUs) per cell for 2 h before the inoculum was removed and replaced with fresh medium or medium supplemented with 20 M MG132. The infected cells were collected at different times p.i. as indicated, and proteins were analyzed by immunoblotting using the indicated antibodies. The positions of molecular mass markers in kiloDaltons are indicated on the right.
