Model setup. New plasma cells are generated following immune responses and migrate to the bone marrow. The cells lifespan is determined by a gene regulatory network that transitions cells from a viable to unviable state along a trajectory that we parameterize by the coordinate x. The viable state is stabilized by the concentration of survival factors c, with a transition from monostable to bistable dynamics occurring at the critical concentration c=ccrit.
