The toxicity of UV-induced nascent RNA damage is limited by sequestration into DHX9-positive stress granules. The sequestration of damaged RNAs prevents the accumulation of cytoplasmic dsRNA after mitosis and averts activation of inflammatory responses in daughter cells.
