Electrophoretic mobility shift assays of RAD51, RAD51(K64A), RAD51(K70A) and RAD51(K64A/K70A) with the nucleosome. The binding reactions were conducted in the presence of AMP-PNP. Ratios of nucleosome bound to RAD51 were estimated from the band intensities of the remaining free nucleosome bands (right). The average values of three independent experiments (shown in Supplementary Fig. 1d) are plotted against the RAD51 concentration. Data are mean s.d. (n = 3 independent replicates).
