Representative images of the valence-dependent changes in nucleolar distribution of NPM1 before and after blue-light activation in the nucleus of live U2OS cells. Before light activation, the ferritin core is diffuse throughout the nucleoplasm while the NPM1mCherrySspB is strongly partitioned into the nucleolus. Light-induced oligomerization of NPM1mCherrySspB was seen to change its localization. The scale bar represents 5 m.
