Microbubbles attached to cell surfaces act as ultrasound (US) amplifiers to mechanically activate Piezo1 ion channels in chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. Calcium influx leads to NFAT dephosphorylation by calcineurin and the stimulation of anti-CD19 CAR expression enabling cancer immunotherapy.
