Phylogenetic analysis of mammalian CARD8. The protein sequences of the longest isoform for each CARD8 gene from each species were aligned and used to construct the maximum likelihood tree shown. CARD8 is present in every superorder (pink,Monotremata; blue,Marsupiala; purple,Xenartha; red,Afrotheria; green,Laurasiatheria; and orange,Euarchontoglires).Laurasiatheriais polyphyletic, Euarchontogliresis paraphyletic, and all other superorders are monophyletic.
