Curve fitting of the same data from e . The dashed line shows the point at which mating with indicated old- LAP1 -/- males resulted in a 10% reduction in female fertility. The red curve was represented the fitted curve. Females that died during laying eggs were removed from the study. Three days after oviposition, the numbers of eggs were counted and subsequently separated into intact (unhatched) or broken (hatched). The top of each column in b and e shows the number of hatched mosquitoes relative to total mosquitoes. Each dot represents one mosquito. The experiments were independently performed three times with 30 females per experiment. A KruskalWallis test of variance was conducted to detect any significant variation among three replicates, and no significant differences were detected. Then results were combined for further analyses. Statistical significance was determined using the multiple MannWhitney test with BenjaminiHochberg adjustment ( b and e ). Data are shown as mean SEM. * q < 0.05, ** q < 0.01, *** q < 0.001. Source data are provided as a Source Data file.
